There are many different species of cockroaches, but one of the most common and well-known types is the German cockroach (Blattella germanica). This species is small in size, light brown in color, and is known for infesting homes and buildings. Another common type is the American cockroach (Periplaneta americana), which is larger in size and reddish-brown in color. Both of these species are considered pests and can be difficult to control once they have infested an area. **

If you are trying to identify whether you have a German cockroach or a wood cockroach, there are a few key differences to look for. German cockroaches are smaller in size, usually around 1/2 to 5/8 inches long, and are light brown or tan in color with two dark stripes on their pronotum. Wood cockroaches, on the other hand, are larger, typically around 1 to 1 1/4 inches long, and are reddish-brown in color with a pale border around their wings. Additionally, German cockroaches are more commonly found indoors, especially in kitchens and bathrooms, while wood cockroaches are typically outdoor insects that may occasionally wander inside. **
